Washington, D.C., August 9, 2006 –Today, Former Senator John Breaux announced the launch of the Ceasefire on Health Care blog, furthering the campaign’s goal of finding bipartisan “common ground” agreements leading to market based, incremental change to the nation’s health care system. The online forum is designed to supplement the Ceasefire podcast series and engage its participants in lively discussion about the most pressing health care reform trends and issues.

“I am pleased to be able to invite policy makers, health care experts and the American public to not only listen to our weekly podcasts, but also to now participate in the Ceasefire blog that will allow for the exchange of opinions and potential solutions to the health care issues facing our nation,” said Senator Breaux.

A new blog entry will be posted to the campaign Web site at www.ceasefireonhealthcare.org each Tuesday and Thursday. Topics covered in the blog, including the uninsured crisis in America, the Medicare Modernization Act, and health information technology, are designed to be useful to both Republicans and Democrats in implementing policy change.

In addition to launching the new blog, the Ceasefire campaign released its latest podcast episode in which Senator Breaux explores the implications of the Medicare Modernization Act (MMA) and delivering quality health care to the public through a unique public/private alliance. This fifth podcast episode in the Ceasefire series is available for download at the campaign Web site and is also posted through Yahoo!, Google, Odeo, PodNova and iTunes. The podcast series is updated each Wednesday throughout the summer and fall, with each episode specifically focused on a different health care reform topic.

Future podcasts will feature commentary from participants in previous Ceasefire bipartisan forums, including former Senators Tom Daschle and Don Nickles; Senators Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) and Gordon Smith (R-OR); former White House Press Secretaries Ari Fleischer and Mike McCurry; and later this fall, representatives from the AARP and the American Hospital Association.

Through the Ceasefire on Health Care campaign, Senator Breaux has held forums and discussions all over America with leading Republican and Democrat policymakers seeking ways to reform the system. The Ceasefire on Health Care campaign is sponsored by American University’s Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies (CCPS).
